FC Bayern heads east for Audi Summer Tour China 2015

The players have enjoyed their holidays and are all rested up, but now it’s time to get serious! FC Bayern Munich leave today for the Audi Summer Tour China 2015, which sees them visit three cities for pre-season training and friendly matches.

Back in May, we announced the launch of the FC Bayern Munich flagship store on Tmall Global, with integrated end-to-end logistics services provided by DHL eCommerce. Fans in China have had nearly two months to stock up on gear, and now they’ll get a chance to wear it when the team pays a special visit to China!

FC Bayern Munich arrive in China on July 17 for the start of a week-long trip that sees them stop in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. In each city, the players will play a friendly match for their Chinese fans, which at last count numbered a whopping 90 million people!

July 18: Audi Football Summit Beijing vs. CF Valencia (Valencia Club de Fútbol)

July 21: Audi Football Summit Shanghai vs. Inter Milan (FC Internationale Milano)

July 23: Volkswagen Cup Guangzhou vs. FC Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao

Fresh off their pre-season performance diagnostics to establish base levels on various levels of fitness, the FC Bayern players will use the training sessions and the friendly matches as the first real indication of where the team stands after winning the Bundesliga last season.

“I’m curious about what we’ll find out there [about the team],” said defender Jerome Boateng of the trip to China.

The tour will provide the first true test for new signings Douglas Costa, Joshua Kimmich and Sven Ulreich as well.

There is of course an element of sadness among the team as they depart for China without one of the team’s most beloved stars, Bastian Schweinsteiger. The midfielder announced his signing with Manchester United over the weekend and left on Monday for the team’s training camp in the USA.

The sentiment among Bayern players and fans alike is one and the same: “Basti” will be sorely missed!

During the Audi Summer Tour China 2015, there will be a number of ways you can stay up to speed with what is going on with the team. We recommend the FC Bayern playlist on the DHL YouTube channel, Deutsche Post DHL’s official Twitter feed, and the DHL global Facebook page (where it is rumored there will be a special prize to win during the tour!).

And of course we’ll have regular updates on the tour right here on InMotion, so check back all the way through the end of the tour on July 23!
