FIA Formula E diary: Lucas die Grassi live from Moscow

The inaugural FIA Formula E season enters the home straight. The penultimate venue for the new racing series is Russia’s capital city of Moscow. The 2.29km circuit passes right next to the famous St Basil’s Cathedral. Lucas di Grassi gives us an insight into his race weekend in his exclusive DHL InMotion diary.

Perfect response after Berlin
Today’s result was the perfect response after the race in Berlin. We’ve shown everyone that we don’t give up and that we are capable of winning at any time. I had a lot of energy in reserve and would have loved to attack Nelson. We’ll have to take a close look at the reason for that before the next race.

Climbing into the car
Another day, another race. My objective is still to win the first drivers’ title in the history of Formula E. To do that, I have to make sure that everything goes perfectly today, because there is a gap to close. But when I’m in the cockpit, I only think about driving. The pace in Berlin was great, which makes me optimistic that it will be equally good here. Now my full attention is focused on the free practice sessions so that I can transfer the knowledge from the simulator to the track.

Give me FanBoost
Once again this weekend, YOU can help me! As with all FIA Formula E races, you can again give your favourite driver FanBoost in Moscow, allowing 30 kW more power for five seconds. That can be invaluable and can even decide the winner. After the difficult race in Berlin, it would of course be doubly nice if you vote for me. So please visit fanboost.fiaformulae.com ;-)

Well prepared
My team-mate Daniel and I have been spending some time in the simulator. I have prepared myself intensively for the circuit in Moscow, which is a challenging combination of fast sections and tight hairpins. Part of the track is extremely fast while the rest is correspondingly slower: the most leisurely corner is taken at only 40 kilometres per hour! I’m sure that drivers and fans alike will enjoy themselves.

Back in action
The break after the DHL Berlin ePrix was thankfully short. I don’t want to dwell on what happened there – my thoughts are focused entirely on Saturday’s race in Moscow. Motorsport is becoming more and more popular in Russia. Two years ago, the world’s largest country staged its first DTM race followed by its first Formula 1 Grand Prix. Now it is hosting FIA Formula E. The streets of Moscow are obviously the perfect venue, but I won’t be allowing the sight of St Basil’s Cathedral to distract me.
